PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA – Former PKR Youth chief Ezam Mohd Nor, who has since joined Umno, is willing to take on PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a by-election.
He said he was not afraid of facing his former boss if selected by the Barisan Nasional leadership to contest in the election, preferably in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency.
Ezam, who rejoined Umno on May 28, said he was an ordinary of Umno member and it was up to the leadership to make a decision on the candidate to take on Anwar.
“I would like to clarify that I am ready to face Anwar in the election if named the candidate,” he told reporters on Monday. [more]
KUALA LUMPUR: Pusrawi Hospital’s Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid did not examine Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan for evidence of sodomy, a hospital official said yesterday.
Pusrawi general manager Wan Mahmud Wan Yaakob said this was because Mohd Saiful sought treatment at the hospital for stomach-ache and constipation.
Hospital director Dr Kamaruddin Ahmad, who was also at the press conference yesterday, said Mohd Saiful was first examined by a female doctor before his case was referred to Dr Mohamed Osman.
“Maybe at that time, Saiful told him that he was sodomised and Dr Mohamed Osman advised him to be checked by a specialist,” Dr Kamaruddin said.
Dr Mohamed Osman is a general practitioner at the hospital’s accident and emergency clinic and not a specialist.
The hospital called for the press conference after a medical report on Mohd Saiful was leaked to Internet news sites and blogs.
Wan Mahmud said the hospital was still investigating the authenticity of the medical report which stated that there was no sign of Mohd Saiful having been sodomised, and how it had been leaked to the public.
PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad yesterday said Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan could sue Hospital Pusrawi if investigations showed that it was responsible for his leaked medical report.
Dr Abdul Latiff said he was told that police had started investigating the matter.
“I am sure the police will also investigate the doctor (Dr Mohamed Osman) who examined Saiful.”
Dr Abdul Latiff also confirmed that police would use the medical report issued by the Kuala Lumpur Hospital to help decide whether there was a case against Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The examination on Saiful at KLH was conducted by two specialists.
“The report was made by two of my specialists, yet I have no access to it as it is confidential.” [more]
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he is “not worried at all” about the medical report from Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) on Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, who is accusing him of sodomy.
The former deputy prime Minister believed that another medical report, done on Mohd Saiful at the Pusrawi Hospital on June 28, just four hours prior to the examination at HKL, would also vindicate him.
He said the question though was whether the original HKL report would be torn up or amended.
“In four hours a lot of things can happen,” he charged.
The doctor who examined Mohd Saiful, 23, at Pusrawi Hospital found no evidence of sodomy as there was zero tear and scar, zero active bleeding and no ulcer or pus in his anus.
The Pusrawi’s medical report was carried by a news portal days ago.
The PKR de facto leader was speaking to reporters yesterday after giving his statement on investigations at the Federal Territory religious department.
He had filed a complaint against Mohd Saiful with the department earlier where he said Mohd Saiful had falsely accused him of fornication without producing four witnesses. [more]
KUALA LUMPUR: Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan is determined to swear on the Quran to prove he is telling the truth of being sodomised by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Saiful is willing to swear on the Quran. If the ulama says he has to use the Quran, we will use it,” said Mohd Saiful’s lawyer Zamri Idrus yesterday.
Zamri said his client would take the holy oath after police completed investigations into the allegations made by him against the PKR de facto leader.
KUALA LUMPUR: Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan wants police to speed up investigations in the sodomy allegations made by him against his former boss PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“He wants it to be expedited and is standing by the police report that he made against Anwar,” said Mohd Saiful’s lawyer Zamri Idrus Wednesday.
“He has full trust that the police will carry out a thorough investigation.”
Zamri also provided the press with a hand written statement by the 23-year old former aide of Anwar, making it one of the rare times that Saiful has come out to give his views over the entire saga which began when he lodged the police report last month.
“I also want to say that there is no reason for me to slander and frame Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in this case,”
“I leave it to the police to carry out investigations on my police report. I am now waiting for the outcome of the police to bring the individual involved to justice,” Saiful said in the signed statement.
He also urged Anwar not to twist and turn (berdolak-dalih) in the case. [more]

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said there is no reason why the police should charge him for sodomy, based on the law and professional standards, and lashed out at the police chief.
With rumours of his arrest imminent, the de facto PKR leader said he did not know what to expect from the police.
Speaking to reporters at the Federal Territory Religious Department Wednesday, he lashed out Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan, whom he claimed had a personal vendetta against him.
Musa has filed a defamation suit against Anwar over the latter’s police report alleging that the IGP had fabricated evidence in the “black eye” incident of 1998. Musa was the investigating officer in that case.
“Let me remind the government and authorities that this country is not a police state. The decision must be based on facts and law not based on Musa Hassan’s personal wishes and vendetta from 1998 right through 2008.
“If they follow the law, the facts, the alibi, the medical report, why do they even consider? (charging),” he asked. [more]
Ismail Omar explains about the medical report leaked on the Internet and the progress in the investigations of the sodomy case involving Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – A private Malaysian doctor who examined a former aide to opposition figure Anwar Ibrahim following allegations of sodomy was not qualified to conduct such a check, his employer said on Wednesday.
Private hospital Pusrawi said Saiful Bukhari Azlan, who alleged that he was sodomized by Anwar, had turned up at its facility complaining of a pain in his anus.
But the doctor who inspected him was a general practitioner and not a specialist, Kamaruddin Ahmad, the hospital’s medical director said.
“A sodomy check-up must be by a specialist, not a medical officer,” Kamaruddin told reporters. “He is not qualified to make any conclusions.”
Anwar had produced a copy of the Pusrawi report on Tuesday which he said showed that Saiful had not been sodomized, citing it as proof that the accusation by his former aide was a political plot to ruin him and scuttle the opposition’s rise. [more]
MALAYSIA’S opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim insists he will fight a by-election later this year and form a new government despite fears he will soon be charged with sodomy.
“There are thousands of criminal cases not properly investigated. Why pursue this with zeal and in an unjust way? Is it because I will participate in a by-election,” Anwar said today.
“You want me to withdraw? No. I will continue to pursue the change. Let’s see if they want to charge me,” he said after being interviewed by Islamic sharia enforcement officials over the sodomy allegations.
The former deputy prime minister admitted that his family and friends will undergo the same suffering they experienced in 1998 if he is “victimised, arrested and jailed.”
Anwar has said the allegations of a young male aide, a repeat of charges that saw him jailed a decade ago, have been fabricated to block his plans to topple the coalition that has ruled Malaysia for half a century.
He has demanded that police stop the investigation and called the aide, 23-year-old Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan, an “outright liar” who was working with others in power to frame him.
Police, however, have said they will continue sodomy investigations on Anwar despite a leaked medical report which he said had vindicated him as it showed no evidence that his accuser was sodomised. [more]
