MORE than 2,000 people, led by former MCA Wanita leader Datin Paduka Dr Tan Yee Kew, joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat today. Tan handed over the application forms of 2,079 people from various races.
About 1,100 of them are Chinese and most are believed to be former MCA members who had followed Tan out of the party.
However only about 1,700 of them were present at the function at the Klang Executive Club.
The forms were received by PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and deputy president Dr Syed Husin Ali.
PKR de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim were also seen.
In her speech, Tan described the day as a historic one and as the start of her quest to better serve the nation under the PKR banner.
