Malaysia’s Anwar set for Aug. 26 by-election
PUTRAJAYA (AP): Malaysia’s Election Commission has announced that a by-election involving opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim will be held Aug. 26.
Anwar is seeking to return to Parliament by contesting a seat in northern Malaysia that his wife vacated last week.
The Election Commission says that nominees will file their candidacy papers Aug. 16. The Wednesday announcement says both sides will have 10 days to formally campaign ahead of the ballot. [more]
